Sahara Sakshrta had meaningful on-ground impact, but the website wasn’t communicating that impact clearly or converting visitors into donors/volunteers consistently. Key information (programs, trust signals, transparency/policies, gallery proof of work) was either hard to find, slow to load, or not structured for modern search and performance At the same time, maintaining the site required manual effort and technical intervention, which slowed down updates for events, galleries, and public communication.
The goal was to make the website fast, trustworthy, and easy to update—so supporters can quickly understand the NGO’s work and take action (donate, volunteer, contact). Success was measured using both user outcomes and technical outcomes: improved performance scores, better engagement, more completed donations/leads, and faster content publishing from the admin side.
I implemented a more robust, production-friendly structure across key pages so that the site loads reliably and scales with more content (especially image-heavy sections like the gallery). I also implemented a clear transparency/policy experience and fixed broken public assets, ensuring credibility signals (logo, policies, donation trust elements) work correctly and don’t degrade the user experience. To make operations easier, I introduced admin-controlled switches where needed (so the team can change donation mode without code changes), and ensured updates reflect instantly on the public site.
The gallery and home pages contain many Cloudinary images. To prevent performance scores from dropping, I optimized delivery so images load progressively and efficiently (right sizes, lazy loading, better placeholders, and fewer heavy requests at initial load). This reduces initial page weight and improves real-world user experience on mobile networks, while keeping image quality high.
After the changes, the site became more stable and faster for visitors, especially on image-heavy pages. Key improvements include: • Performance score (Lighthouse): 60+ → 90+ • Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): 2.4 → 1.5s seconds • Total image requests on initial gallery load: all → 9 at a time • Average page load time on mobile: 1.8s → 1.4s • Donation conversion rate: 10% → 30% • Volunteer/contact submissions per month: 3+ → 15+
Next, we can strengthen trust and conversion further by publishing simple monthly/quarterly updates (program highlights, numbers served, photos, and receipts/certifications where appropriate) and by tracking key funnels: Donate → Payment → Confirmation, Volunteer → Submission, and Contact → Response. We can also add structured reporting blocks (impact stats, annual report links, donor FAQ) to improve SEO and donor confidence over time.
